Two Fish made of Wool
Pair of socks for my aunt! Or maybe they are thumbless mittens!! Who knows! (lurk my work for more photos!)
Quick scan of first page of storyboarding/brainstorming to illustrate Pablo Neruda's "Ode to my socks" - I think about it every time I knit a pair of socks which is probably always. I can't get over how crazy that bottom right drawing turned out. Brainstorming is probably the funnest part for me, before you have to get all seriousssszz. Except being serious is lame.

here's looking at you, kid!
Here is a collection of things I have with faces on them.
1. constipated face button ring
2. spoon with a cutout smiley face
3. Smiling pom pom nosed envelope with the stamp on the wrong side aka my wallet!
4. decapitated bunny head earring.
I think there is something nice about being able to look at an object and have it be looking back at you too.

my butt hurts
I tried to organize my work on the internet - the organization is a bit confusing, so many things fall into multiple categories.... I'm still too frugal/lazy to figure out how to make a real website so this will do for now! jenliuwork.blogspot.com
This is page 2/8 of trying to record my grandma's journey to Taiwan from China. It started off as just writing it down, but then I started drawing parts of it.
It has also been raining for more than 24 hours straight. ugh ugh ugh

Hong Kong Daytrip
Due to some travel visa complications I had to leave Taiwan for a day! And I went to Hong Kong!
1. Skyline -- foggy day
2. This was delicious! Regardless of how terrible the photo looks
3. Hong Kong may be an important financial center of the free market world, but that doesn't mean they know how to layer colors. red and grey doesn't make a lighter grey!
I was so puzzled and bothered by this, I tried it in Photoshop for myself and LOOK:
Anyways, despite this ad, Hong Kong was fun and exciting!

cabbage of my dreams
top: Jade cabbage at the National Taiwan Museum, same size as a real Chinese cabbage
middle: a mini plastic version I got as a souvenir
bottom: anthropomorphized as a bashful female in sticker form! cartoon version of a jade version of a cabbage. wahhhhhhhhhhhhhht!!!! can't get over the derivatives.
not included: evil-eradicating dagger, which sounds absolutely wonderful and was encrusted with stuff
Also: http://articles.cnn.com/2011-02-27/world/china.jasmine.protests_1_police-officers-chinese-government-demonstrations?_s=PM:WORLD
.. I'm surprised that Democracy Now hasn't covered the media block yet, or maybe they have?

Paper Piano
So I recently watched this video I made and put on youtube when I was 16 and apparently a lot of people have a lot of things to say about it. Like how ugly my nails are - and looking back, orange is not a very attractive nail color on me I will admit that!
Anyways, it is fun to see people theorizing how I did this. such as this comment:
"if you set up an AR program to obsreve the paper with a web cam, recognise the design of a keyboard and produce a tone when contact is made with a particular point... I have never seen auditory AR but it should be no more complex than the visual programs already existing, the only hard part would be making it recognise the hand drawn keyboard, and making it accurate in seeing which hey is being hit..."
uh wahhhh?
Oh the internet.
